egg crate?

I was just wondering where you get this stuff. I am making a qt tank (better late than never) and I wanted to put something over the top so that there could be no jumping out, but I could not find it at my local Lowes. Is it called something else? Or is there some other way of getting it?

It is at Home Depot or Lowe's in the ceiling tile section....not the lighting section.

It's at Lowe's. It's located in the back of the store near the ceiling tiles.

At the Home Depot on I-40 it is in the far back right corner in the celing tile section near all of the lumber. At the lowes in Yukon, it is in the area with the insulation. This was as of 2 weeks ago.

Just tell them you need light diffuser panels like they use in office building cielings. Then they will point you right at them. When you ask for egg crate they just tilt thier heads and look at you like you're stupid while they are the ones thinking (Now why would you have so many eggs that you need a crate?) lol.

It looks like the term egg crate (1/2” x 1/2” squares as we know it) is an interchangeable term to describe a type of light diffuser, and there are many types (patterns) of light diffusers out there. It’s also used to describe heater registers, louvers, or anything with a cross hatch pattern “egg crate style”. The one common thread in the term “egg crate” refers to a symmetrical square pattern, like 1/2” x 1/2” or any equal sized square pattern.

That's what I was able to find. I don't think I could have made this up even if I tried!

Growing up, I knew eggcrate being the foam padding with little cones in them. I've never heard of light diffuser panels being called eggcrate until I got in the hobby.
