eggs in filter

I found orange colored (tiny) eggs in my filter- got any ideas?
I have a couple of yellow damsels and some peppermint shrimp that they might be from.....

I was really surprised to see them - as nothing in the tank seemed to be mating or protecting a nest of any sort...

thoughts/ ideas:fish2:

I didn't save the eggs - by the time I was done fixing the filter problem they were sitting out a while and were pretty cold.... I didn't see the eggs for a while preoccupied with the filter itself...

Probably from the fish. Peppermint shrimps don't release eggs, they only release fully functional larvae. Not really sure if damsels spawn on substrates or release eggs into the water column, might be either depending on species?

thanks
I will have to pay a little more attenetion to those 2 fish and how they are acting...
this is all new to me- should be interesting!

seems the damsels might be making a "nest"
And when I first posted to this site.. I was only interested in breeding- I guess I better get some reading done quickly! :-)
