Hello everybody my name is Art. I'm from Thailand.Has anyone bred any rays? I bought 2 electric rays a month ago they are around 4 inches. I fed them with fw ghostshrimps. I thought they were babys when I bought them cause they're kinda fat so I thought they still have yolk sac or something in them but then wonder why it took so long. Since I read about electic rays being bigger I never expect them to have babys this small I guess they'ry some dwarf type but I can't find any infos about them I found just about the normal electric rays. I woke up this morning and found 6 little rays in the tank! but only 2 are still alive.

Has anyone bred this kind of fish? or other sw rays?
Are there any website about these fishes anyone know?
What do they eat ? I tried smash fw ghost shrimp but they show no interest yet maybe cause they still have yolk sac.

Tried mashed marine shrimp like market prawns or even sliced squid? FW ghost shrimps are'nt exactly that nutritious for marine fish.

That is really exciting ! I have the Scott Michael book, your fish does not seem to be any of the "electric rays". Can you post a good clear picture of an adult?

From the book; "The Lesser Electric Ray is born at 11 to 12 cm(4.3 to 4.7 inches)"

and... "... due to their selective food habits. electric rays do not fare well in captivity. They feed primarily on annelid worms, both in the wild and in captivity..."

Thank you everyone. especially David M for the infos. I couldn't find anything about this species too. Anyway I ask the fish store if it was electric but they don't know too so when I bought it I try touching it and got shock !

go in a freshwater shop and try blood worms or any other kind of moskito larvae. Be carefull to siphon not eaten food away before water quality turns out to be an issue.

Success!

Definitely offer squid (as mentioned previously) and other small pieces of SW fish. If you can offer fish indigenous to it's area that would be best. Keep in mind that when you feed them, they are inclined to suck in substrate, so you need to keep an eye on your substrate quality. They are precious BTW, inspired a big awww from me. Best of luck and I would love to hear how they are doing.
