Eliminate fuge and add Phos/Nitrate Reactor?

So my fuge set-up in my sump was an afterthought as there are no baffles dividing the pump intake from the rock and chaeto growing there.

I have been debating about whether or not to eliminate the sp called fuge and add a phoban and or nitrate reactor.

Thoughts?

What I've done, is that since my sump is too small to have both a skimmer chamber and refugium chamber, is partition the water level section with eggcrate, so on one side is cheato growing under a really bright lamp, and then the other side is the return pump's intake on one side and the other side is 1-2 phosban/carbon reactors hanging from the inside of the baffle from the skimmer chamber. It's worked for me, and while there is no substrate in the refugium part, the cheato grows fine and there are tons of pods and such around there.

My setup is similar to Reefs, but I hang my Phosban off of the sump into the "Fuge" area. The feed comes off my return pump, the clean water goes into the baffle.

I have a similar setup in my 55, dividing the pump/fuge sections with gutter screen. Eggcrate would do a better job, I just don't want to mess with it and stir everything up. The tank's doing great. I also run a PhosBan reactor t'd off the skimmer pump, return pump would be just as good. I don't rely on return pump for flow, got Koralias for that.

Long story short, what Joe (nyvp) says.

thanks...I do have the fuge sectioned off with eggcrate and have the micron bags with carbon and phosban in them...guess I could make some room and run a reactor in the fuge section if I wanted to.

The great thing about reactors is you can hang them or mount them just about anywhere.
