Thinking of water quality, you might consider always having a full water change handy or the ability to put one together quickly. I've had my clams spawn a few times in my clam tank. If you have multiple clams, they have a nasty habit of sympathy spawning! It is fun to watch, but boy oh boy does the tank water get nasty looking. Thus far I've always been home and could do a water change to dilute the mess.
