I'm no expert on the efficiency or prices on various skimmers, but Andy builds very high quality very efficient skimmers at a price that seems lower than most everything comparable. I cannot imagine anyone needing or even finding anything that is better made or effective. Being here in Houston, I am familiar with the Precision Marine products. I have heard they are quite good, but I can say that from what I have seen, they are less well made, and certainly far more expensive. To be honest, i've never really understood them. They saturated the Houston area markets so that even when everyone was into ETS and other high end skimmers, the only thing in our stores were these crappy expensive venturi and counter-current Precision Marine products. The company certainly seems to have grown a lot, and come up with current designs that appear and are reported to be quite efficient. But, I still wouldn't pay the price being asked as I don;t see anything that puts them at an adavantage over other premium skimmers, and definitely not compared to someone like My Reef Creations who, as far as I can tell, gies you the best of all scenarios.

I am looking for a skimmer for my 300gl. and also was impresed by the price of the myreefcreations skimers and Eric's endorsement.
Eric, are they easy to adjust and maintain? Do you have experience with EuroReef skimmers as a comparison?
Skip, What did you decide on?
Thanks,

I just ordered both a Calc Reactor and a Skimmer from Andy. He has been very helpfull in deciding which way to go.

I expect to recieve my order in a couple of weeks. He is backed up a little right now, but tells you that up front.

Seems like a great guy. I'll post again when everything arrives..

I have no personal experience with the other skimmers, though have seen more than my share of them in action. For all practical purposes, they are the same thing, and with this degree of efficiency and quality of skimmer, its rather academic anyway. It gets the job done and then some. If you were wondering about a comparison of a great skimmer and a bad one, I'd say otherwise. But, most of the really efficient skimmers all do more than enough skimming and it comes down to quality, service and price, IMO.
