Extra time in Houston, TX...

I looks like I'll have a business trip to Houston in the next few weeks... I'll be driving from AR, so it's only a ~9 hour trip, and I'm planning an extra day for... ya know.... Hobby stuff.

Could I..... Should I.... make a trip to the Gulf Coast?

I'd be interested in collecting some Macro's, Seagrass, and crabs (not necessarily reef safe as they will likely end up Eel food in the Lagoon)

Who should I call about legalities - what should I expect re: restrictions and fees?

Thoughts on hardware to bring for colleting and for keeping things happy on the return trip?

Thanks,
John.

Go to Marshreef.com. It's Houston and the surrounding areas forum. I myself have gone several times to Galveston to collect Pepp. Shrimp, pipefish, rock anemones, etc... Not sure what the season is right now though. Pepp. shrimp is usually around August-September I believe.

Your also going to need to purchase a fishing license with a salt water permit. It is not too costly, I think about $25 for the year but I am not sure about out of state residents. You can also just buy a one day license.

The_Nexis_One: There is a thread on MARSH with photos from a collecting trip with some of the things caught.
