It is a pitty for everybody that lost one's favorite fishes or pets. I hope you would find another. Pin-tail FW is a very rare, unnamed one from northwestern Pacific and is a quite beautiful fish.

C. roseafascia (Rose-band or Red-striped FW) is also rarely seen in retailers and is the largest species of the genus, exceeding 20 cm (in Fiji and Samoa). The differences of the sexes are somewhat difficult to tell exactly but the tail is longer in males, but short and rounded in females and juveniles. good Luck !

The male (top) is just 16cm long, and female (lower left) some 8cm, and juvenile some 4cm.

Great pics as usual Tanaka!

Achillies- sorry for your lost, how much did the Roseafascia cost if you don't mind me asking :)

QUESTION: noticed my male flame is shedding its skin, near the tail. I've been soaking all foods in selcon, vitachem, etc... He is eatting very, very well. I occasionally see him scratch against a rock but not often. I've read that shedding is due to parasites, should i take action or leave alone.

Thanks for the advice,
Steven

i paid about 90 for each. both from the same place. as far as the loss, im ok with it. things happen. my friends were watching the tank and were able to tell me what was wrong and we got it fixed so i didnt lose everything. its kinda funny, the "sturdy/hardy" fish i lost but my regal angel, bellus angel, achilles tang, balck tang, mandarin goby and pair of leopard wrasses made it. at least i didnt lose everything like snipersps. now i just have to convince my friends that they didnt do anything wrong.

also.. do you guys know what's going on with Brian over at Twilight Aquatics? I e-mailed him twice but haven't gotten a response.. maybe he's out on a dive?

I believe he's had to shut down his fish business for the time being due to other commitments.

I also think he shut down until further notice. He's trying to find new species i think in the marshalls or the like.
There are more rare fish sellers, you just have to look.. lol

adding the leopards and fairies at the same time wont matter. I say add leopards first because they are more fragile then the fairies and i would let them settle in before adding a fairy :)

Bronco this thread is still going strong, good job.

nice one!
My LFS has a 400 gallon with a bunch of fairies in it, and he just added a balteatus to the mix. It went from havin no orange at all (the bar) but when he added it, it went nuts and started displaying for 10-15 min 4 or 5 times a day. Everytime he displayed the ornage started getting brighter and more noticeable. It is so fascinating to watch. He bullies everyone but the female clown and large lineatus male (who is about 2" bigger, lol) My next fairy wrasse will be this one!

I just bought my first wrasse!!

A redfin wrasse. If I were to get a reddish wrasse I wish I would have gotten the longfin. But he's growing on me. He's an orangish pink and very cute! The blue tang taught him to eat my seaweed.

My LFS has a pair of debelius on hold for me. They were shipped together so they think they were collected together. Anyone know how big they might get? They look to be ~ 2.5". Kuiter says just under 3" but he also says labouti will stay ~ 3" and mine is at least 4.5". Also will they be real spooked in a tank with wrasses twice their size?

They also have a carpenters, bellae and lineopunctatus flasher in now for about the same price. Any thoughts on these? Any potential conflicts with the debelius?

Philwd,
An adornatus, male, 7cm that I recently got (photo). This species grows to more than 10cm, I hear but I have never seen such a large- sized one. One of my friends in Thailand informed me that he has seen. C. laboutei will reach at least 12 cm.

dantheman,
Yes, it is C. scottorum, as written by Terryz.
