Filtration durring cycle?

I just read not to use filtration durring the cycle.
Is this true? I have been running my wet/dry the whole time. What harm would it do.

If you are cycling with live rock then it would be redundant to run a wet and dry also. Water changes are probably your best option.

I agree with water changes. If you cycle your tank with uncured LR then it doesn't hurt to run skimmer at full speed and activated carbon.

Heavy skimming, heavy flow, some light to keep photosynthetic life alive and water changes along the way will provide the best results. Keep temperature and specific gravity constant during cycling. Keep the skimmer clean and working effectively...you need a LOT of flow and it doesn't hurt to move the rock around and shake the debris off from day to day either.
