Finally got my tank up last night - dialup beware, big pics

After the past month of reading for hours and asking tons and tons of questions I finally have my tank up.

Its a aga 90g megaflow with aga 30g sump I baffled to make intake, fuge and return sections. I built the stand myself. An asm g1-x skimmer, mag 9.5 return pump, I plumbed it so part of the flow goes back to the intake of the sump, as it was a bit to powerful for the overflow in the tank. PC 4x65 lights, with 2 10k and 2 actinic 03's. aquaclear 110 backfilter, 2 tronic 200 watt heaters. salifert test kits, dr fosters refractometer, typhoon III ro/di unit. guessing maybe 100ish pounds of live rock. Couple powerheads for additional flow into the rock. Roughly 100-120 pounds of southdown.

I still need to figure out what all I need to put into the fuge, just have some live rock in there now. suggestions? This is a fowlr tank.

Some cheatomorpha macroalgae would be a good addition to the fuge.

I like the aquascaping a lot, and I would move those maxijets to the back corners -- bottom or top. Flow should be random enough that you don't need to direct it -- and if you do, why not direct it from the back where it's tougher to clean? :)

I will move them to the back, not to mention would be less of an eye sore. I will look into the cheatomorpha macroalgae, how about sand, just do a 4-5" dsb? Can I use my southdown for this?

I have this same setup, and I would love to see pics of the modifications you made to the AGA sump. Beautiful stand btw, my hubby is thinking about building me a stand, since they're so darn expensive!!!

Sand in the fuge? I'd probably not do so. The surface area is going to be pretty small if it's just a slice out of a 30g sump, so even if you made it DEEP I don't think you'd get a lot of denitrification out of it -- it's just too small. Live rock and chaetomorpha is the way I'd go.

Have to say it again, I really like that aquascaping. I almost want to connect my three islands now. Should have mentioned, chaetomorpha AND a light to help it grow. :)

here are pics of my sump, please ignore the horrible silicone job, my first time and wow, did I suck lol, but they are in there good, yanked hard on em, would not come out :)

heck of a job on that stand. Keep us updated on future additions.

Thank you! My first time making anything with wood :)

I will certaintly update as I get new additions. I till be a few weeks. Not sure what kind of cycle I will have, the rock came local, well was out of water for 4ish hours maybe, and has been in the garage in rubbermaid containers for the past week and half with a heater/powerhead. Put it all in last night (few peices in tonight),

I tested for amonia and nitrite tonight for the first time, both were 0, will test every 2 days for a few weeks and see how it goes.

you really researched your stuuf b4 putting this tank together. i cant believe its your first.

thank you, I have spent hours and hours reading and asking dozens of questions here on rc. I wanted to do it right the first time and not have to buy anything twice. I still have so many things to learn, gaurantee I will be asking alot more questions also! :)

Looks GREAT, congradulations!!!

Have you thought about covering the back glass, or painting it??
IMO, black would look the best, though some like the blue. Keep up the great work. LOVE the stand btw :D

I was going to paint it, but decided to just get one of those backdrops, I think black will look best as well.
