Hi, Guys.

I have a Fireball Angel in QT and he won't eat. I got him on Sunday. I'm afraid he won't last another few more days with out food. Any suggestions? I've tried pellets and nori.

Let me know,
Joey

IMO, I wouldn't sweat it too much yet. It might take him a bit to settle in and start eating. If he seems pretty healthy, you've got a little time before you really need to be concerned.

If you don't have something already, a pvc tube or small structure for a hiding place can help make him feel more comfortable. Also, IME, a lot of fish don't seem too keen on pellets initially. One thing that has worked ok for me is using a tiny dish with a small pile of thawed mysis on it so the fish can pick at it as they want. (Just turn off the powerhead(s) for a while so it doesn't blow around.

I can try some fresh shrimp later today and I"ll let you guys know how it goes!!

Do you know if it was eating before you got it? I would maybe try some brine or mysis.
Don't go crazy adding a lot of food at a time since it can effect water quality in qt.

Garlic short term is ok to entice picky eaters to eat, but you should never feed it long term as it's been shown to cause liver damage in fish.

With that being said, I've had fish not eat for several weeks while in QT, then all of a sudden they get hungry enough to accept food. I've never had a fish die in QT from not eating.

Have you got a small gunky live rock you can put in there: if it doesn't turn out needing treatment, the rock can go with it to the DT---angels tend to be rock browsers.

Update here! He seems to go after the shrimp! He only eats 1-2 pieces then he ignores them, but it seems like he's getting more and more attracted to eating. I'll post another update as the days progress.

What was the fish eating at the LFS before you purchased it? Try that first. If you didn't witness the fish eat anything beforehand then your basically just taking stabs in the dark. Good luck though. :)

Good news. Finally, he will be fat like a pig 😜
