First clam

I have a 29g reef (30"Lx18"Dx12.5"W), I'm planning on stocking in with LPS corals[it's been running for 2 months now], for this reason ), I going to be lighting it with 150 HQI. The LPS will be on the sand bed.

I would love to place a clam or two on the upper rock work, do you guys think:

1.) It is ok to place clams on rock work as opposed to a sand bed (which, in my case, will be filled with LPS)?

2.) Is this light to marginal fro clams? I have read (on RC) about using more than double this wattage for maxima, will I be able to enjoy any sucess [with adult clams] with the 150HQI?

Thanks for any help, always appreciated.

MS,

I see you tank is only 18" deep and if you place in LR your HQS's should be fine.

Since your tank is so new I would wait awhile before adding clams. Let things settle down.

Get the box Giant Clams by Daniel Knop. I have his link on my site. Enjoy. :)

Thanks Barry, I will probabley wait a few more months before adding a clam. I'm also going to read Knop's book before purchasing one.
