First meeting of the year

Alright guys and gals,

it is time to start thinking about the first meeting this year. I figured after Labor Day some time. Anyone want to step up to host the first one let me know.

Hey Everyone,

I can host the first one. I didn't participate at all last year with the club, but plan on participating going forward.

With a full-time job and helping Klaus frag and run eBay, it didn't leave much time to come to meetings. I've decided to return to my roots as a hobbyist and not be involved in the commercial side any longer, so I will have free time to participate going forward.

You can see my current set-up on Klaus' website under 'about us.' In the coming months, I will be changing things around. It's not 100% official, but most likely will be getting a 340 gallon set-up from a friend of Tazman71's in Warsaw. Once that becomes official, I will post pictures of the monster. It needs some attention, but the potential is endless.

I've had the pleasure of fragging 100's of corals and have learned different techniques and have used lots of different products. If anyone has something to frag, bring it with you. I can certainly share what I've learned with everyone and we can use my various tools. I'm in no way an expert and make no claims to be. I'm still learning and look forward to learning more.

I would imagine the weekend is the best time for everyone. Just let me know what works best for everyone and we can go from there. I can get directions for everyone closer to the date.

Take care,
Rob

That is awesome Rob. Can't wait to see the new monster. I saw Klaus has not had anything up on ebay lately, is he done with that now?

Thanks…my plans are to move the new tank into that same room, so that means some rearranging will be done. On the left side of the room, I will keep my water containers & 100g frag tank as is. The freshwater tank at the end will be coming down and one of the 60g frag tanks will get moved over to that spot. The other two 60g frag tanks will come down and be sold. So, the big tank will be placed on the right side where the three 60g frag tanks are currently.

What is his site. I can't find it. I did not know he had one

Hay everyone, I talked to Fireworm about coming to the last meeting of the year, but had conflict. I am hoping to meet you all this year. Let me know when you guys decide to meet. I will be there.

I would like to go as well. I ll see what to expect and i would consider hosting later on as well.

Hi Everyone,

Which day & time works best for everyone; either Saturday, September 6th @ 7:00pm or Saturday, September 13th @ 3:00 pm or @ 7:00 pm?

These are ideas that I’ve come up with for the meeting:
1. Fragging demonstration â€"œ The colonies that I have I don’t want to frag as they are going in my new tank. So, if others have items to frag would you let me know? I would imagine Klaus may have a few items that need to be fragged by then as well that we can work on.
2. My friend and I built my frag tanks. They aren’t professional by any means, but they hold water and do the job just fine. I’m sure we’ll have something in the works where we can show some techniques on working with Acrylic.
3. I’d like to hear more about everyone’s set-ups and whether anyone has any issues that the group can help out with.

If anyone else has any ideas, please speak up. I will also provide some snacks and adult beverages (beer).

Later,
Rob

This is great, reef and beer. I love it. I have a leather we can frag and s crap load of rubble, some dry and some live, we can use that to do the frags with. I also have a zoo rock I wouldn't mind to frag out.

As far as the time, the 3pm one works better for me. I have to be to work by 7pm on the weekends.

I am all for the 3 pm as well......

I have this huge sinularia that has taken over half my tank, I would love to chop a huge section off it and I could bring it to the meeting and you could frag up this piece and show people how to attach it to rubble......if not this meeting maybe another?????

I also have a huge toadstool that needs to be fragged but is attached like the sinularia to a huge rock and can't be removed from the main display. Hopefully I can host a meeting and someone can show me how to trim that puppy back and make a bunch of frags out of it for everyone......

what ever the time I will be there I do prefer the 13th though at 3

It sounds like September 13th is the best for all of us. I understand why you did meetings at 2:00 pm last year as Fireworm needs to be at work on Saturday evenings. Let’s have the meeting on the 13th and push the time up to 2:00 pm, that way he can get frags home and put in his tank before going to work. If that doesn't work, let me know otherwise I'll assume that works.

If anyone has any hard corals like Acans, Favias, etc. they want to frag, let me know. I have a water cooled diamond wire saw that cuts through hard corals like butter and is pretty fun to use.

LornaS sent me a PM with a great DIY idea probably for a future meeting. She uses the Randy Farley Holmes two part solution. I’d really be interested in seeing how this is made. This is just an idea for those of you who make their own two part solution.

As we get closer to the date, I will PM everyone with my address & phone # as I’m not real comfortable with putting it out so everyone can see it.
