Fish food problems

I feel pretty dumb asking this question here but here we go.

I bought 2 flat packs of Ocean Nutrition Formula 1 and Formula 2 frozen foods.
They contain some kind of gel cubes and I have no idea how to feed them to my fish.
I tried breaking them with a fork and putting them in the tank whole but neither way seemed to work.

What am I supposed to do with them? My fish won't eat the cubes when they sink to the bottom.

Help :confused:

I find my fish just plain don't like gelled foods. Dunno why. Prime reef is about the same as formula 1 I belive, just without the gel and they love that. Then again, my hippo tang is more agressive than my maroon clown. I think my fish are backwards or something.

I just chop up the food with a knife and dump it into the tank. Formula 1 and 2 are very good foods, IME, although I make my own now.

Don't let anyone get you away from gel food. It is far-and-away the best food there is. Most vitamins are water soluable which means that that run off from non gelled frozen food is the good stuff getting away. Take some of your aquarium water in a glass and put it in your fridge for half an hour. Take your gel food and place it in the cup of cold water. Let it thaw for half an hour. Take the gel food which is thawed but cold and mash it through the teeth of a fork over and over again until is in bite size pieces. then feed. Your fish should pick up on it after a while. Also--look into a product called cyclop-eeze. It works miracles for difficult to feed fish but isn't apporpriate for larger fish.

Grid feeder = less food pollution.

The food doesn't end up floating everywhere, into the overflow, through the powerheads, ect;

Of course, this only works for gelled foods.

Thanks for your replies. I tried to chop 'em up with a knife but my fish had really hard time eating them.
They kept spitting them out. I'll keep trying I guess
