Located in Irvine. If you are interested, please let me know about the new home you have available for the animal. I will require a check up later on for the animal. I am adopting these animals out for someone else and she would like some peace of mind to know that the animals are well taken care of.

Yellow tang 4" $20
stigosus tang 4" $20
Ocellaris clown 3" $10
Bicolor blenny 3" $10

So what are you going to do when you show up and the fish are dead?

thats sweet. but i dont know how practical that is. And i'm not sure about calling it adoption. its more like selling them since those are all the standard prices. I'd be interested inthe stigosus tang. got a pic?

well, I did kinda feed and take care of the animals for the short time they are in my possession. Besides, if you can't afford this small fee, I'm pretty sure you don't have the resources to take good care of them.

As for the checking up, I just need a picture of the fish in its new home so that I can show the fish's original owner that the animals are alive and well. If the fish is dead when I get there....well....then I'm in hot water.

will add pics later if necessary

BTW, if you have a 150+ gallon aquarium that is currently lightly stocked and you show me that you are a accomplished, responsible aquarist, the fish is free and I will deliver to you.

I dont want to sound like a jerk but Im sure most people are willing to pay for fish. Otherwise none of us would have them. The title of this thread IS MISLEADING. I completely thought they were gonna be free. Better for you if you sell them. I would have gladly paid for a couple of these fish. I was very interested in 2 of the fish until I read that I would be checked up on making sure the fish are alive! All of us here strive to have a great tank and wouldnt intentionally kill any fish. Im sure noone is gonna by these fish and torture them.....

well shouldn't that "small fee" go towards more food for the dog...i mean fish, or maybe towards the next 5 gallon water change using MIXED RO water rather then NSW? :D

(jus giving a hard time... no worries :p )

Isnt an adoption free???

Thats what i wanted to say, but didnt wanna be mean spirited. but the comment about us not being able to care for the fish if we cant pay for them is kinda ridiculous. there are good frugal reefers. there are bad rich ones. I remember working in a store and the richest ones were the worst ones! they'd buy one moorish idol after another (it wasnt my choice to sell it, and I would advocate against the purchase each time). i think its also odd that its being sold at essentially full price, when the feeding and housing of the animals for a short time wouldnt really justify the bill.

i'd rather the post say that they were being sold. I would buy one at that price. but they certainly arent up for adoption.

Usually when you adopt an animal, there is a fee. There didn't use to be, but this is the current trend. Theere was a fee for my rescue adopted dog, worth every penny. I think that it's cool that haitwun actually cares what happens to these fish.

haha. yea, but the fee is for good will, for vaccinations, and processing etc. and a pure bred terrier will incurr similar fees to a mutt. you dont pay full price for a yorkshire puppy and say its adoption. the fact that per/item price matches in store prices is not adoption. its a sale. Its the principal if anything. dont call it what its not

so much criticism about the title and yet, not a single person serious about taking the fish

I already said that you can either buy the fish off me. Or, you can show me that you are a responsible aquarist and the fish is free.

This is a very tall statement as how can one shows you that one is a responsible aquarist? If you're selling your fish at the reasonable price, then so be it. I'd buy from you.

The welfare of the fish after the transaction, however, is no longer your business because you sold it.

I don't think that anyone would waste their time and hard-earned money to buy any fish just to let it die....

eh. i think the story changed a bit. At the beginning it was "adopt for this price", and now its, "i'll sell it at this price or you can adopt it free, assuming that youre a good owner." hrm

a•dopt - [uh-dopt]â€"œverb (used with object)
1. To choose or take as one's own; make one's own by selection or assent: to adopt a nickname.

1.pur•chase
Pronunciation: 'p&r-ch&s
Function: verb

1 a archaic: GAIN, ACQUIRE b: to acquire (real estate) by means other than descent c : to obtain by paying money or its equivalent : BUY d : to obtain by labor, danger, or sacrifice
2: to constitute the means for buying <our dollars purchase less each year>
Intransitive verb: to purchase something

However comendable it is to want the best place for your fish, I have to agree with GPS, I wouldn't expect anyone to purchase something to watch it perish. Also, most all of the people on this website are more than just your average hobbyist's and I am sure there are a few that are not as advanced but it may come as an insult to put something up for adoption or for sale then question anyones experience that is interested. If you are that concerned about the health og these animals, it seems to me that you would find someone you trust to take them and not have to worry about it.
