any suggestions on how to remove a 6line wrasse from a 150g reef tank??? removing the rock is not an option. tried putting a net w/ some food in it but it did not work. this fish needs to go!!!!!!!!!!
you would need to turn all the lights on in the middle of the night and stun the fish while they are sleeping and you can easily remove it, if that doesnt work then try syphoning the fish out, both have worked for me in the past.
Size 22 barbless hook (stainless steel if poss) and the finest flourocarbon fishing line you can find! For bait I used a single mysis shrimp (brineshrimp are a bit small). I'd guess it causes the fish less damage than being chased and netted.
I got a acrylic trap and it works. Put ALL of the food in the trap and only feed the tank that way. Leave the trap in the tank 24x7. After a few days the fish will flock to the trap after you put new food in it. I have been able to catch any fish this way except for clowns that won't leave their anenome and YTB damsels.
The key is only introducing food in the trap and getting the fish used to it.
i know this sounds cruel, but yesterday my male clown was laying on the floor because of the 6line harrassment so i will try the suction method when i do a water change. any more suggestions will be much a appreciated and please remember this is a sixline. it moves quick throughout the rock work and primary sleeps in the rocks.
Then when it float to the surface scoop it up.
Unfortunately this method is hell on the seals, and is a little on the indescriminant side.
But highly effective...
I had to wait for my lunare wrass to jump out....and the first time he did i was right there.and paniced and threw him back in....the second time i got smart and put hime back in another smaller tank........man he ate 200 snails im betting.
