So I've been out of the hobby for a few years now and I don't have the time for a large tank so I decided to get a biocube. I'll be upgrading to LED's in the near future. I'm picking up the tank this saturday. here's the equipment list for now:

vortech mp40w
reefkeeper controller
salinity monitor
PH monitor
ozone generator
titanium heater

I'll be keeping mostly SPS. I'm using the rock from my old 180g that I broke into smaller pieces and used some reef epoxy.

LMK if you have any questions! once I get the tank the build will go quick

Ya well i widh i could say that was from me..but i'd be lying. i bought this tank from a family member who went with a huge upgrade and gave me a great deal on the whole setup. The corals, fish and LR are from my 55g that i had b4 i moved out, too big for my apt which sucks, but keeping for down the road when i have a bigger place.

Just finished setting up the tank. I'll take some pics tomorrow. The girlfriend was getting pretty annoyed I was ignoring her for the fish lol. and how have you been christian? I heard you were working in NYC now?

okay so the tank is up. still organizing everything. I'll be installing a panel today so I can mount all my controllers and monitors to it. heres some pics.

How much rock do you have? It looks a little scarce if it's going to be the main part of your biological filtration.

Yo man. Yeah. I've been here since July. It's going really well! Except I broke my tank down before the move and haven't set one back up yet. I know it'll happen soon though. Haha.
And I agree about the rock. I think I see the look you're going for and I think you'll accomplish it with a little more, or a little larger, more striking pieces. It would also look cool with just a few BIG colonies to fill up the tank. But knowing you, you are going to get the small, expensive stuff. haha :p
Also, what were you thinking for LEDs?

I'm also working on a 29g Biocube, HQI and adding an MP40. How is the MP40 working out? What speed and setting are you running it on and is the sand staying put? I was thinking of going bare bottom but I see you have sand...

Glad things are going well for you man. and I have a few select fish in mind but we'll see what happens. Madtanks might help me build a DIY LED setup inside the hood. I want to use cree's.

I have the MP40w at about half way and I have problems with the sand, I wish I put something a little heavier down. If you don't mind the look of barebottom then I would do that.

thx for the input, I'm actually planning to do a foam bottom with the front area left open for sand. I love the sand look but worry with the mp40 so my plan is to kind of isolate the sand and protect it with the foam.

not really sure what you mean? also, does anybody have any input on PH? I can't get it to stay above 7.9. I use the buffer but It just reverts back within an hour or two.
