Ok, so I am going to be putting a Calfo overflow on my 46 Bowfront. It is going to be about 5 inches in depth, but the entire width of the tank. I am going to have 3 1" bulkheads for drains. What would you guys recommend using for a return pump? What size pipe for the return? Should I only use 2 1" bulkheads for the drain? How much flow from the tank will these bulkheads be able to do? All help is greatly appreciated!!

With mechanical engineers, especially from Cincinnati, we have the Head Loss Calculator so our mathmatically challenged engineers can figure it out for themselves.

I understand the head loss calculator, and I have already done that... I'm just wondering how much flow would come out of this puppy... I don't want my fuge to have water flowing through it at the speed of light, so i'm just trying to figure this stuff out before i drill!

Ok Mini,

You want at least a minimum of 300 gph and most people these days shoot for closer to 600 gph. With those 1" drains it will handle that and a lot more. Just plug in a couple of those pumps into the calculator. I like Iwaki pumps and their 30-RT-2 should work pretty well.
