fluke... trematoades...fluke tabs... HELP!

1st off I posted something in the disease forum with no luck yet so I thought I would try here.

I have a fluke/trematoad outbreak that I am trying to kill. I freshwater dipped a few fish in my tank last night & I know I need to do this at least 1 more time.

My question is that I was told Fluke Tabs will kill everything that's on the fish however there would also be a very good chance that it would kill my bio filter. So is it OK to simply add say 1 tablet to the food & mix the tab in with that & feed the fish? That way the would get the dose of the chemical however the tank itself would get a small dose thus not whiping out the bio filter.

thanks for any help!!!

do not feed it to your fish! while it can affect your bio-filter (nitrifying bacteria) it won't wipe it out, and I found them to be very effective for getting rid of nasty, nasty flukes. Dipping fish is only really effective before introduction or if done very soon after introduction to the tank. By the time they have propagated themselves they are nearly impossible to get rid of without treating the entire system.

imo, you need to risk it as there is no soft, easy way to be rid of those types of nasties.

so you think I should treat the entire tank then?

I was told that if I do this to remove all the bio balls so it cannot kill the good bacteria in there. Possibly I could rust remove my entire wet/dry & put something under the tank temporarily. Then do a 50-75% h20 change & hook the tank back up.....hmmmm
