FMAS board?

AS Marvin has mentioned.. the BOd would likely support this if we had the help, and the equipment, but most importantly the help to get this done. the BOd as he mentioned is already thin.

I will add something that i dont think has been mentioned here before. Many of the speakers will not like this, and refuse. Reason; some of these guys travel the country with these speeches. They will create one or two per year and travel distributing this knowledge that way. You place this open to public social media and thats taken away.... not only is this a thought, but someting ive heard from multiple national speakers.

This was the other "challenge". But I believe there is some value to this. My thoughts are start off audio only with power point and them move up to full blown video as the goal. The videos would be hosted on our website and accessible to our members one edited and branded.

Someone willing to do the work at least to get us started. I will champion it to the board.

In the mean time we still have lots of work to do like our AquriMania event in June and finishing up our Website.

Another thing to think of about this that hasnt been brought up but has been brought up in many discussions from other members to myself in discussions about this was the possibility of people now NOT coming out the meetings if they can just sit home and watch them live .....the purpose for the meetings obviously is to share the information and make speakers/topics available to our FMAS members but this will happen to some extent and may end up having an adverse effect although a nice idea and positive aspects are trying to be achieved for those not coming in live but its just something to think of.....these speakers are not cheep for some of them and like marvin stated they travel the nation speaking and Im sure it wont look too good with them coming in to expect a nice audience and have the reverse......just some thought for input that was brought up from some members for you to also consider

Marvin, I've thought about this a little as well since you mentioned it the other day. Perhaps we could work around the issues that Eddie pointed out here by making the video availability very limited. Embed the video in the FMAS website, behind the login screen, so only paid members have access to it. Since Eddie also very rightly pointed out that many guest speakers won't want this information disseminated freely across the country, we could offer the videos as available to members for a limited time only. Further, if it was a streaming vid, it would make it more difficult for people to copy and put on public channels. Maybe something like www.istreaming.com might have some functionality that we could use.

It's an interesting thing that could potentially draw in more paying members if it was available. Not to sound crass, but let's be honest. If porn sites do this sort of thing all the time (not that I know ANYTHING AT ALL about that) :strange: then I'm sure we can figure some way of finding a middle ground.

That's very true, i never renew my membership til the first event that I can atten, or til the me etings come to the museum. Partly because the website isn't very easy to use to renew, and partly because there is no benefit til there is something that the non Broward members can attend.

um whens the last time you went to see live porn LOLOLOL thats almost the only option......:spin2: the purpose of our meetings in a live event format is to come out and meet with other members and meet speakers in person and support our raffle ...are we going to have call in bids for the raffle also lol of course not so now the less people coming in and supporting the raffle the less is purchased to be raffled off for the people that do come out ......yes some can't make it but hey everyone can't go see the rolling stones live either...I think a common ground would need to be established to make things available in an archived format so that if someone is interested enough that could not make the meeting they would still have an opportunity to view it but it would not be taking away from the experience of members that do come either.....

Let's have a offline conversation. I have a pretty good idea for how to implement it. I just need the physical recording and editing done. This was actually something I wanted to implement and used to justify the membership plugin we chose to use (magic members). Its setup for just this kind of stuff.

Just haven't had enough time to follow up with the involved board members. Everyone is busy. Lol
