Foam: How thick?

On my current tank I have 3/4" foam under the tank and it works great for support.

I was wondering what would be the minimum size foam I could get away with for my new tank?

I was looking to use 1/2" or less for support under the new tank.

Some people don't use foam at all, but this new tank will be rimless so I'm not taking any chances.

Mine is 1/2" foam on top of a furnature grade 3/4" plywood surface.
