my girl keeps buggin me to get a foxface but im reluctant .... how many of you guys actually have foxfaces in your reef??

i had a decent sized magnificent, 4-5" but i got rid of him when he started nipping at my clams.

I had one for the longest time, and he was great, never nipped a thing, was very docile, and ate out of your hand. He disappeared when I went on vacation and I never found any remains inside or outside the tank :(

I got a one spot fox face, he's excellent, he was actually my first fish!! I feed the tank a 1" x 1" of the dried veggie seaweed every day, he never picks at any thing!!! He's always out and about, not shy, he'll come up to my hand when Im in there (which is dangerous as h*ll) so I have to shoo him. He always streches his spines and the neon goby starts to clean him (its quite a show). Over all he's my interesting fish. But remember they vary by individuals, but if you get a bad one, theyre weasy to catch because they become so trusting. Just put a piece of seaweed and when he's eating, slowly net him & your done. Thats anout the whole story!!

I hand fed mine even tho he has the spines. My fish never get close enough to touch me. I've met some people who can pet their fish, but I've never been able to. They hand feed, but don't dig the petting, so I doubt that you'll have to worry about him coming up for a rub :p

Every one of my fishes & inverts love to come up to my hand when Im in there but I dont like it when their near, specially the fox, just in case, Ive nvr had a problem, but you never know!!

lol i used to be able to pet my gold fish. he was about 9-10 inches long. fat little thing loved to be petted. i could hold him in my hand and he would try to swim away :P

I have had one for about 3 years. he's about 5-6" now. very gentle eats outta my hand as well. Of course I don't have clams but he is very nice to his tank mates. Good luck with your decision.

I got a real small one when I had my nano and when he started growing I moved him into the 210. He has been great. He used to be shy or scared when he was small and lived in the nano. He was always camouflaged. Now in the big tank he is always yellow. I have two clams and have never had a problem. I bought him to eat bubble algae that I had in the small tank, and he did eat it. I vote yes.....go for it.

I have two scarlet claeners shrimkps, a fire red shrimp, the lobster, several snails, a pencil urchin a bblack urchin, a porcelain crab, two star fishes, and LPS, SPS, softies and zoas. He picks at Nothibng, so yes he's safe, just keep him fed to be on the safe side!!

so the foxface is it safe around inverts?? like snails and shrimp?

They are safe around snails & shrimp, but they can go after LPS,zoas, clams etc.Mine for the most part was pretty good,he would occassionally nip at a Fungia.I'm sad to say something must have spooked him a couple of days ago,as I came home from work & found his tail sticking out of a carpet anemone.I'm guessing there was a power surge & when the lights went out,he swam into it.
