Frag Swap etiquette

I went to my very first frag swap 6 weeks ago and the turnout was around 20 people and about 50 frags, when everyone got there they put all their frags down on the table and everyone just stood there wondering what to do. (It was a little bit awkward) I decided to break the ice and just start making offers for some stuff I liked; as a result, I walked away with some pretty nice stuff. On the other hand there were other people who waited too long and got some bottom of the barrel stuff.

Now with the question, is there etiquette to this? Or is it, first come first serve?

Has anyone else had this experience? If so, has anyone found a system to help level the playing field?

Thanks in advance.

arrange trades before the swap - online with pictures helps to get people what they're looking for. also gives you a better idea of what they look like under tank lighting - as most everything looks brown under normal lights.

fragoutpost.com, frags.org are somewebsites that are good for this - you can take offers from a few people via PM and accept the ones you're looking for -

I think you did the right thing and what you got you deserve for putting in the initiative. If it's a long time running frag swap organization, I'm sure they'll have their rules set up already. I'm pretty sure if someone saw a coral of mine that they wanted, they would have came up to me for a swap as well. I don't believe there's a universal etiquette when it comes to swapping, if you and the other person both feel it's fair and agree on it, I think that's good enough...:)

Our club is fairly new and this was our 2nd swap the first one wasn't as big as the the last one, and we now have another one planned for mid May.
