Hey Gang,

I have a pure breed (german breed) german shepherd. As opposed to the less desireable american breed. He is all black (very rare) fully papered and registered. He will be 1 year old on May 27th. He (cooper) is fully house trained and crate trained also. I am looking to give him away for free to a good home (of course frags are always welcomed especially when he was 1200.00 bucks). I do not have the time to train him like I did with my lab since my wife and i had a baby. Anyone interested in him give me a PM and i will gve you my cell number so you can see him.

Make sure you screen the people you give him to good. I do recsue and have heard of people taking free dogs and using them for pratice fighting for pits and also for labs to use for experments, so be carefull.
 
I may be interested. I have a 11 y/o german german shepherd named Tia that's two generations from the Home land. She is the best dog I've ever had. Weighs about 110 lbs. She's getting old and I have contemplated getting another before she's gone. She is well trained and I have put here through schutzhund training (except fot the attack and aggression training. PM me. I'd love to see pics! I too have a lab aswell. He just turned 12 andis a great dog too.
 
Yes he is good with kids. i have an 11 month old and he loves him, licks him clean every time he comes in the house. For those of you interested in him please PM me your info so i can e-mail you or call you personally

Sounds like a great dog - if my hubby would let me get another, I'd be interested... but he won't, so... :)

Salamander I see you are in fire and forestry. My HOA in Flagstaff (I am building a house up there) just had a meeting with several fire departments last week. What FD are you with?

My wife just said no. She thinks it would stress and depress our old pups too much to have another member of the family.

Crystal, Which neighborhood? I'm with Flagstaff Fire Dept. I used to be with the Feds. I meet with lots of HOA's an individual homwowners to work with them to help them protect their families and property from wildfire. People don't realize that during a large widlfire incident if they call 911 there is a good chance no one will be able to come due to limited resources and other priorities. One enine can only protect 1-2 homes so we perform a structural triage during large incidents (like in mass casualty incidents). If a home has too many factors against it, we right it off pass it by and protect what we can save. I do free home assessments if you'd like me to take a look and also help with funding for thinning etc. PM me if interested.
 
I'm still working on it but it doesn't look likely. BTW German German Shepherds are great mentally and physically. The American breed was bred by the AKC to look more aggressive (taller shoulders, lower hips making them look like theyre ready to attack) and have more inherently genetic problems like displasia and arthritis etc.

Any one who gets Cooper NEEDS the book by the Monks of New Skete who train shepherds using a wonderful and effective philosophy. Its good for other dogs too.

I would love to have him. althou I already have a zoo, 4 salt tanks, a rabbit, a ferrett, a hamster. a english staffordshire, and a 1/2 germanshepard. oh and I can't forget about the 3 yes t hats 3 children. If You think that he'll do great at my home then We would love to have him join. Oh yeah I am also home all day...

Yeah................that is one sore spot with me. The breed standard should never go in a direction that affects the dogs health. Some of those poor guys can hardly run anymore. Such a shame!
 
Salamander - we are in Saskan Ranch. The Asst. Chief actually came out there after the meeting and gave us some advice. We just contracted with Flagstaff FD for protection. Our contract was just approved by the council a couple weeks ago. :) We are still in the building stage - framing is about to be inspected. Woohoo!

well schucks salamander he would have loved being with your dogs, well that is if they could have tolerated him wanting to play all day
 
Saskan is pretty cool. So you guys in the process of contracting fire service. Asst Chief Bills is pretty cool. He's only been here a month moving from Florida and is only learning about our forests and wildfire. I'd suggest a wildfire assessment. Parts of Saskan Ranch are pretty scary in my opinion. I can at least send you some info if you want.

My brother may be interested....He had two German Shepherds and one died suddenly of cancer and now the remaining has a terrible hip(at 6 years old) and may not last much longer. If you think you would consider him, you can pm me.
 
I am interested as well, but I have to ask why you aren't putting him in the paper. People don't normally give away such valuable dogs...
 
i rather give him away to someone that can give the time to him like the time it takes with our tanks. i dont want a stranger from the paper to take him and mis treat him. So there for I am trying reef central first
