I would be interested if osu86 fall through...but why would they starve in small tanks. Thought they eat leftover...just wanna make sure before I get one so I don't kill it.
im pretty sure they eat leftovers as well.. mines in a 30 gal and i dont have a fuge and he's doing just fine. i read somewhere that they will except small peices of fish too, as well as pick up pellets off the ground
I have one in a 75g and it does very good. If the sand sifting star leaves the sand and goes onto the glass then it's looking for more food which the tank cannot provide.
I used to have one in an 18g and within a week it was on the glass searching for more food. I brought him back to the LFS.
mine crawled up on the glass once following a trail of pods that were in the corner of the tank. i see alot of pods in the corners of my tank and on the floor as well. if i ever stop seeing alot of pods i will add a fuge or give him away
