Freshwater Sump Advice

Hey guys,
I know this a Marine forum; however, no one on freshwater forums seem to know anything at all - I only know from what i have read on these forums(and some others).

I have a 75 gallon that i want to setup for a freshwater turtle and some fish(maybe ciclids or an oscar). I have a 50 gal tank to use for a "sump". it is a 36x18x17 tank... I also have a 29 bowfront... Now i have a lifereef single overflow, 5 powerheads, 1 hob, 2 seaclone 100 skimmers, and a a Filstar XP 3 - Just the canister is setup right now --

Now my question is this - What is the best setup to use? i was thinking of running a "sump" / or a wet/dry setup . I plan to build the dividers with glass and silicone -- can someone tell me what parts of the sump i need to have for freshwater and then i will draw up an idea with that info --

I plan to buy a pump (not sure which) once i determine an appropriate flow

Thanks for helping the gurl..

Katie

PS - does the skimmer have any effect with freshwater?

And I thought I was the only one wanting to use a sump in FW... Actually I've been using sumps on most of my FW tanks... I tend to keep them simple.. All I did was use an overflow, with a 30g, with 2 bio-ball areas,, works great.. I got the Filter sections from Acrylicman... http://www.acrylicman.com/AcrylicmansHome_1.html I purchased them from him cheaper then I could make them.

I tried a skimmer on FW, but I couldn't get the bubbles big enough to do anything worthwhile... something with the salt content or something...

If I decide to continue with FW (this SW stuff is addicting!!) I'd like to try a fuge...
