Frogspawn happy?

Hi,

I recently added a two-headed frag of frogspawn, from another reefer, to my 14g nano.

It looks good except for the color. It's not as green as it was in its "home" tank.

It's in med to low flow (i.e. the arms sway a little, but not a lot). We're using a MJ 900. It does remain open and full. It's just the color that's off...

Right now it's under 24w of 10K power compacts. I'm upgrading with another 24K of 10k power compacts, but that kit doesn't show up until Friday. So right now the lighting is about 3 watts per gallon, and it will soon be close to 6 watts per gallon.

Do you think it's getting enough light?? Or perhaps needs more time to adjust?

Thanks!

The lighting is most likely the reason for the change in color. So long as its open and full its probably doing well. Once you get your new lights, that may be sufficient; especially if you consider that the light doesn't need to penetrate very far in a 14 gallon tank.

I could be wrong, but I seriously think that is not enough light. In the wild these do get collected from deep waters, but what I think there environment may lack in light source it makes up in planktonic diversity and abundance, especially compared to our tanks. I know mine couldnt be happier right now, and its sitting about 16" directly under a 175w MH bulb.

Here's a pic of mine in a 12g nano with its original PC lights (the shrimp made the left head shrink up)

Well, it sure sounds like it wants more light. It'll have twice as much on Friday, when the upgrade shows up. :)
