frozen rotifer and copepods

Cyclop-eeze is what most are calling frozen copepods Julio :D I know, it's a cyclop, but what yah gonna do :)

To asnwer the question, yes, they both have their merit for feeding certain corals. What are you feeding?

The frozen food I'm talking about is not Cyclp-eeze but not sure if it is copepods either. The food I'm talking about is from LifeLine-H2O Life, called "H2O Life Marine Cyclops/Mini". Has anyone else used this product?

Frozen rotifers yes, not sure on frozen copepods, where did you see these for sale?

Brine Shrimp Direct has frozen copepods in the speciality section.

I was thinking of them for my mandarin

Where on BBD did you see frozen copes? I only see freeze dried.

Never heard of those "Life Line" frozen copes, sorry.

LouZ,
Do you think your mandarin will eat the frozen copepods. I just got a mandarin and I'm trying to figure out what it will eat. I have a 75 gallon reef tank, but it still seems to be getting thinner.

You have to train the mandarin to eat if you want it to live in there. I trained mine in my 65g reef starting with live brine shrimp. Then I started going to frozen brine, you may need to squirt them in, suck them back up, squirt them again, etc. I don't know if everyone has success with this, but this was the method I used. After he started eating frozen brine I switched to frozen mysis. Then once I was sure he knew frozen food was actually _food_, I stopped targetting him. I just fed the tank mysis twice a week and assumed he was fine. I eventually sold or gave him away, don't recall, but it's a nice accomplishment if you can get them trained!

Good luck, you better start soon!

The stuff I mentioned is freeze dried not frozen.....but I have not tried any. I have a pair and they eat frozen food. I got mine to eat by feeding heavily(pelets,mysys,brine,bloodworms,cyclop-ez) and turning off all pumps for 1/2 hr.. The food just lays there and they explore. They'r lazy feeders....they wont chase food...except mine do a "very slight sprint" for bloodworms.

I beleive that it was an ex-employee of Ocean Nutrition that came out with his own company- LifeLine or H2O, anyways my LFS just started carrying that brand and it looks very promising, I have been using their miniMysis and my fish absolutly love it- also been feeding their rotifers every now and then, corals seem to be enjoying them as well.

LouZ,

Thanks for the info. I have been feeding it live brine shrimp and he seems to eat that a little. It is hard to keep all the other fish from eating the food. I think I will have to try the bottle diner I heard about in another thread.

Could be the ex owner, Chris T. in that case :D he sold O.N. to a large aquaculture feed supplier several years ago. Now you have me curious on this one and I'll have to send a few emails out now :D

I use a large amount of the frozen copepods, rotifers, mysis and other foods from H2O Life. The 20K reef tank here greatly appreciates the copepods and mysis among the other foods.

JustJoe,

I forgot everybody has a gallery and I just took a look at yours. It is a gorgous tank and great pictures. So do you know if mandarin fish will eat the H2o frozen copepods?

Yes, they do. They ate them while in quarantine.
