Day-night timer or Wavemaker Timer. This is the one that has dual timers. One side switches between two components - use as a wavemaker (every 15 minutes or so), or use it like I did to turn moonlights off and actinics on and vice versa. There is a second timer to control a third component (like up to three metal halides).

I have two of these. They kept good time on my tanks and I never had a problem with the switches. I am still using a third one on our seahorse tank...

To answer the PM, the timers have 8 plugs.

On the top timer, you have two plugs for each circuit - so two will be on, and two will be off at any timed sequence you select on the timer.

As stated above, I used this timer to alternate between actinics and moonlights. I also plugged a sump light to come on the same time as the moonlights. You can also use this to control a wavemaker by alternating your powerheads...

On the second timer, there are three plugs that are turned on or off. I used this timer for metal halides.

The eighth plug is on all the time. I just plugged a powerhead into this plug.
