FYI - Found Salifert Magnesium Test Kit

I had been looking off and on for the last couple months for a Salifert Magnesium test kit at LFS's with no luck. A few LFS owners were telling me they don't expect to receive any in the near future.

Anyway - just wanted to let you know I stumbled upon the kit at twopartsolution.com, one of the RC sponsors. They currently have two more in stock. FYI if anyone's been searching.

They probably aren't carrying it anymore because it sucked! It was almost imossible to see the color change. Hopefully they will redesign the test kit.

Try the Elos brand, I got it from SeaSchor. Color changes are noticeable, the only bad part is that the calc is on increments of 100; I'm sure one of you chemists out there can figure a way around that.

Love the Elos kit. 100ppm resolution is fine w/ me, as long as I'm between 1300 - 1500, I could care less about the exact ppm.

It isn't as dramatic as the calcium color change, but I don't think it is t that hard to see the shift on the Salifert Mg kit. It certainly isn't like trying to figure out the color gradient on the phosphate kit...

I was driving around looking for a Mg test kit this past weekend. No luck, so I ordered one from ThatPetPlace. I bought the Seachem one. Has anyone ever used that brand?

Ain't that the truth...

I hate that kit. PITA, in my humble opinion... aside from the pain it is to use, I've many SeaChem tests kits not match their reference (when other brands do match the SeaChem reference). I've stopped buying that brand.
