how do i hook up the kalk reactor, i got the Geo model. Do i just get a maxi jet to send water to it and then let the water go though it and drip into the sump.
do you have an auto-topoff in place yet? usually put it inline with that. tunze osmolator is the best 'store bought' topoff. but if you want to go cheap, we can use a $6 float switch that turns on a $10 aqualifter to pump freshwater topoff through the geo into your sump.
I actually like the JBJ top off because it has a maximum amount of time that it can run between 3 and 14 minutes. You set it and that is the max it can put in. That way you limit the ammount of flooding that you can do if something fails. I use mine with an aquamedic dosing pump and a very small pump baffle and so the most I can put in is .24 gallons so i can not flood period. With your 125 if you used a 100 gallon per hour pump and set it to 3 minutes the most you could put in is 5 gallons so your still not likely to flood. The unit is $100 which I think is cheaper than the tunze (though that is a great unit) and it has a bunch of other good features. I am very happy with it.
Once you have an ATO then you can use a KALK reactor. You CAN NOT run aquarium water through it, only topoff water. If you try running aquarium water through it bad things will happen. So get an ATO if you don't have one already.
no, it comes with one. it's the whole package, an optical level sensor (with backup high-water float switch), a controlling computer that turns the pump on/off and limits how long it can run, and a small 12v pump.
