Tommorow I have the chance to go over to our local saltwater supplier and look around while we do our order. I've been thinking about getting a clam for a while, and might get one there, if there are any nice ones and you think I can get one.
Heres my tank run down:
46 gallon bowfront
175watt 10,000k MH with 2 32watt actinic PC's
DSB
AquaC Remora skimmer
hang on refugium
45# LR
Ammonia:0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:10
SG:1.023
ALK:3.5
Calc:410
PH:8.1
Fish Inhabitants:
2 Purple firefish
1 spotted mandarin
1 kole tang
Sometime I might be getting a wrasse or something like that
Also has:
2 cleaner shrimp
1 emrald crab
snails
brain coral
caulastrea
There will be more corals added (this is probably going to be a big shopping trip), but since I have been gone a lot, I didn't want to put any in. Now that I'm back I can do whatever I need to. Fish sitters don't like having the stress of expensive stuff to take care of.
The light is about 24 inches from the bottom which is about 17 inches below the water surface. I can lower it if necesary. I want one of the clams with the pinkish middle and blue rim, if I can find one, and if they're a kind I can get as a beginner. It will go right in the middle, under the MH either on the sand or rocks, whichever is better.
I will be adding a Kalk dripping system sometime. This is more of a, can I do it sometime then now, I will wait if there is nothing I like there tommorow.
Also, I've been reading about the pyramidal snail plauge. If I wash the clam off before it goes in the tank, will it reduce the number, or are they already in the tank?
