i ordered my first Fl rics .. an orange and grey-bluish one ..it has one mouth .. and another one which is neon green with 2 mouths ..

what is the deal with multiple mouths? i always thought shrooms had one mouth .. and had 2 when they split .. can some one explain this to me .

also as far as spacing them from other coral how much room should they have .

thank u

They get multiple mouths as they grow. Sometimes they split, sometimes they don't and they just stretch out and spread over the rock as a single polyp instead. That's just how they are :D

I'd keep it at least a few inches away from other corals if you can, since they can have a potent sting and they can grow quickly and need room to spread.

I have never had a FL ric grow quickly and I feed often, mine are also under intense light. I have many color morphs and I have never had them grow quick. Do you have a special secret that you want to share as to get them to grow quicker?

Depends what you define as "quick". To me having a single polyp of ricordea basically triple or quadruple in size over 6 months is pretty quick growth, especially under power compact lighting. To someone else that might be slow.

Growth definitely seems to depend on individual ricordeas. My orange ric floridas and green ric floridas have grown much faster than my tricolor ric, which has barely grown at all in 6 months.

I think my growth rates are due to two things. I feed my rics mysis and cyclop-eeze fermented in Selcon overnight every other week and I don't run a skimmer, which would probably remove food that the rics would be eating.
