Getting DSB started

Getting ready to start a 55 gal reef tank, and will be going with a DSB.

Can I get play sand from Home Depot, and buy the Live sand to seed it with?

Is there anything I should look for when buying play sand?
Any help would be great.....

You'll want a very fine grained sand. The stuff from HD is pretty coarse. Some grades of sandblasting sand are more suitable.
