What is the best method of getting some pulsing xenia out of my tank? The clump that I want to get rid of, is on a large rock that I can't pull out of my tank. Ideas?
Use a pair of pliers and try to break off the chuck of rock that it's on. Best and most effective method I've ever used. Seems like everytime I try something else like scraping it, it comes right back.
I don't know if this works with corals but one method some people use of killing Aiptasia is the glue it into the rock preventing it from growing and killing it off. Maybe cutting out what you can and putting some of the gel glues over the residual of the xenia might work.
I control my xenia by just sucking it up with a siphon hose during water changes. I used to inject them with vinegar which killed them, but sucking them up is easier.
at one point i had pulsing xenia overrunning my tank... i found just simple relentless plucking worked... it will grow back some but just keep plucking... if you can get it to completely come off the rock, all the better. Per previous posts, bone cutters can be used to chip off the rock too.
