Getting stingray to eat.

How? If the ray can't eat because of its tankmates, disease, or water quality we are giving reasons as to why it is happening. Your post is not helping him come up with solutions.

Seriously -- you are going after me for simply saying some of the posts are unnecessary? You are going after me but not, for example, the post below? Are you for real? But the post below in your estimation is helpful because he accuses the OP of being a liar? Or is it the very helpful "return the ray?" My goal is to stop the attacks as they are ridiculous. STOP reading his threads if they bother you! There are helpful posts absolutely but I think, with a little effort, you can figure out the ones I am refering to that are unnecessary.

The lies are unreal. Im surprised people still post in his threads.

Sorry, I should be constructive.

Return your "stingray" so it has a chance to live.

If and when your giant tank finally does show up, set it up, cycle it for a few months and then buy livestock.

And to save a future nonsense thread, the Great White shark you purchase you can feed seal pups to in order to get him to eat.

I was referring to my posts since I have given him advice on his stocking ideas and when he had Ich. :). I agree about the attacks. If is he younger he cannot process information the way we do so we need to guide him to the best possible solution

How young is "younger"? I am going into high school but it is still clear to me what everyone is saying. Also it says he is getting a 600 gallon tank, (I think) so either he gets a massive allowence or works his a** off.

EDIT: this is not ment to sound like an attack on anyone, just reread it and don't want to come of as a jerk

I'm with you about not attacking people but this guys posts are a little bit ridiculous and I think people are just getting sick of them. Do a search and see for yourself. IBTL...

I have somethings to say:

To DMK, I can understand wanting a fish, but you have to buy them to suit your tank, not to suit your future tank. You could never know how long it will take for you to get a larger tank setup, meanwhile the fish you have quickly outgrow your current tank, and begin to harm themselves and the other fish living in the tank. Honestly, you are super fortunate, and you are throwing that fortune down the drain. You are getting beautiful fish, left and right, and you aren't providing for them, nor are you thinking about their future needs. So I ask that you please stop buying fish. If anything, ask about them first. You are less likely to end up with a giant, expensive mess if you listen to the advice of those who have been in this hobby longer than you. As it stands, your tank is far to overcrowded. You need to figure out what you are going to do with the fish you have, before you should figure out which fish you want next. Buying the stingray was a mistake, I'm sure you can fix that mistake by taking it back. After you handle the stingray, I want you to put all of your effort into getting the larger setup built. Once it is cycled and your fish are in a better home, then, and only then, can you even start thinking about buying a new fish.

To everyone else, I see your frustration, and I feel it with you. I believe DMK is still too young to be in high school. We need to act like surrogate parents to him. We need to teach him the skills of our hobby. Decision making is a skill. And I think it will be far more easier to attempt to teach him the reasoning behind our advice, than to try to drill the advice in. I understand that you all have tried to reason, but when that reason is mixed in with pointless arguments about whether all this is just a large troll, or whether this kid is telling the truth, is not going to make him want to listen to us. I feel that from now on, if you don't anything productive to say to him, don't say it at all. So that those who do want to help, can do so without others taking the focus.

That is pretty much all I have to say. I apologize if my thought process is discombobulated. But it is just my $.02.

Returning the ray is great advice, actually.

If he's telling the truth he has purchased a shark, zebra eel, ray, yellow tang, purple tang, sailfin tang, achilles, and I think a few other fish, and all of them are currently in a 90 gallon. I see no way a ray will survive even a few weeks in that kind of environment.

In another recent thread he said he has 14 fish in the tank, plus had just ordered 2 more off DD, a golden puffer and banana moray. I would agree that you really need to slow down, take back some of the fish you have in there or at the very least ask the LFS or a local to hold them for you. Even if your tank does show up in a few weeks you have to remember that you need time to set it up and cycle it before you move the fish, so it will be awhile still.
What all do you have in your tank right now? You already have some compatability issues with your tang's and puffer's don't tend to make good tank mates for sharks and rays, which you have both. I think you really need to take a step back and think about the good of your fish.

+1
I have a stingray in an aquarium. She NEVER passes up food. I (or my kids) feed her a variety of silversides, smelt, and frozen (thawed) seafood mix (shrimp, clam, squid). She is a pig! If yours isn't eating, I'd be curious to see your current tank parameters. My guess is your nitrites/nitrates are way out of normal. If this tank is as stocked as it seems...you are on your way to a MAJOR crash! Please don't do this to those fish.

i seriously want to see some pictures, a little part of me thinks most of this is BS, no offense to anyone.

Nicely said! Although we really do not know anything about DMK -- don't how old he is -- don't really know much. I do know that most of his threads are really high thread counts because of the drama.

Anbosu -- the advice may be good but is lost due to the overall nastiness of the post.

The really amusing thing is that OP has not been back on RC since 6/30. :lolspin:
