Depends on the gfo product you choose. Granular types breakup quickly. More of the denser materials like brs HC gfo tolerate many regenrations without turning to dust if you store it wet . I've reused it it 6 to10xs.

Yes, it has worked for me for years. I haven't needed to use gfo since November though. Vodka and vinegar dosing are doing it all now with some gac and skimming.

can the lye and gfo be stored in a sealed salt bucket indoors? are any gasses building up inside while it rests?

Some lye I've used gave off an irritating gas when first mixed with water, but the lye I'm using now (from lye guy in Syracuse) doesn't.

I don't run my lye/gfo reactor in a sealed salt bucket, but I would guess that you could. There doesn't seem to be any outgassing in that reaction.

There is some outgassing with the acid/gfo reaction.
