I bet the GFO was pulling your Alkalinity down and that's why your corals were ****ed. Not the clean water.

Could of been a factor. My alk is 8.3 but never lower than 7.0

Do you have any snails? They are more effective than you might think at keeping your glass clean. I'd recommend trochus snails
