goniopora succsess

what qualifies as sucsess?

i have had a gonipora for over 4 months now and have some knoticable growth ( this is my third attempt ) each time i started with a tiny frag ( 1 inch or less)

reason that i think it did ' so well' is that my protine skimer hasnt been on during this trial...

how long with it before i can truthully say i was succsessful with gonipora.. cause i know as soon as that skimmer comes back online next month that it will die....:( but my acros want the skimmer on and the enes of the many utweigh the needs of the one
plus im redoing my plumbing and i know that its gonna get stressed out

look here... spock... (lol sorry just had to)

success is long term... years, not months... i personally dont consider it successful until you have corals in your tank for at least a year... or until you HAVE to propogate it (meaning its doing so well you can afford to chop it up)

well tehn looks like ill have to find a way to keep it going for a lot longer but with teh skimmer

I have a green goni for 2+ years. I don't do anything special. Any ideas to get my clowns to host somewhere else will help. I've noticed that some times extends really big when there is low flow and right not is not extended a lot like it used to but I have more flow now or the 3 clowns that host in it, darn clows they keep jumping between the torch and the goni. I don't spot feed any of my corals but I feed the tank, cyclopeze, kents pythoplackton, zooplankton, these are once in a while and daily for fish a mix of fronzen food and flake.

Here is a picture on the 125 (this is what it looks now) more flow around the tank.

WOW, you've got just alittle xenia growing in there!! lol. I bet that looks cool with all the pulsing heads going at it. Im suprized the clowns didnt take to the xenia. Oh and nice looking green goni, ive only had mine for a few months, but it looks better in my tank than it did in the lfs tank. I think as long as you dont over skim the tank, youll be good. Like the xenia it likes a some what "dirty" tank. Good luck,

Michael

I got my clowns to quit hosting in mine by moving it to the complete opposite side of the tank. The were mad, but they ended up going the wall hammer, wouldn't you know it I have two large bubble tips they ignore
