i dont see anything wrong with this. Its the same as all tech support is handled all over the world. Tech support for dell is in India. Chase credit card call center is in the Phillippines. Its no different if its in Mexico. Many big companies hire out of the country labor because it cheaper and cost effective. Yeah they have access to all of our personal info ex. SSN,DL,DOB and so on but nothing we can do. Its just the way corparations work.

Not even close. If someone steals my cc info I am secured by my credit card's guarantee, I get a refund, and they don’t have my driver's license, social, or my dob.
I'm not comfortable about all of my personal data floating around an extremely corrupt country.

Trying hard not to make it political.

There is a considerable difference in private companies outsourcing work to other countries. With Dell and Chase you in fact have a choice to deal or not deal with those companies. In this case you have no choice. The work being done and the money being paid is going to non-US citizens. That's your tax dollars you just watched cross the border with a state paid escort.

If you find this disturbing there are many companies like mine who sends much much more sensitive data to India. We are not allowed to bring in any type of data storage devices such as Ipods, thumb drive, or even a floppy disk but they send this info to a 3rd world country.

I beg to differ Mexico is not a extremely corrupt country. As you can maybe tell by now i am Mexican. Most people in Mexico dont have resources to actually use these things for bad. its cheap labor there and big companies will do whatever is cost effective.

But we are taking tax dollars and sending them to a place where it becomes non-revenue generating to feed back into the system. It's like a sump, if the overflow doesn't drain enough water into the sump the pump will soon be sucking air.

If this is world aid it needs to be funded through other sources and labeled as such.

I strongly disagree with the post above me. Identity theft is rampant. I've had it happen to my family and friends numerous times. The issue is that the info is being sold to people crossing into the US or people already in the US. There are many stories of a person getting 50 W2's in the mail because so many people used their ID's to get jobs, services, etc. I heard one lady last year had over 100 different people use her name to open bank accounts, get jobs, credit cards etc. She only found out because when she tried to apply for a loan, her credit was trashed. Oh IBTL.

I dont want and not trying to be political, but this make no sense to me,

If your so worried about tax dollars, how about the 16 billion a month its costing us for the war, which alot is not even accounted for, and your worried about a measly amount of tax being sent to Mexico, who sent the first troops to New Orleans after Katrina, WAY way before the U.S. sent troops.

Here is another Mexican trying to understand the comment. Indeed we have faced a lot of corrpution and still there is momre work to do: However, I got to say that Mexico is NOT the #! Country in identityt theft, Guess who is? Yes USA. Criminal activities have very little with corrpuption that you may see if a traffic police takes/asks for a bribe, in this particular case you are talking about organized crime, which need technology and a lot of resources to be succesful. Now, another highlight, in Mexico there are a lot of credit card users, so our information is handled by these Banks, which BTW there a lot of foreigners banks.

Honestly I see your comment biased and based on very wrong information.

Good luck

thanks raulalonso. i feel like Mexico is being steped on when they past this in the news this morning. Its no different if mexico does the data entry than if another country does it. who knows maybe its safer with them than if it was here and someone here can really use it.

Here in LA, anyone can easily "buy" a new identity - new CA DL, social, credit cards, birth cert., etc. in an hour. Employee background checks, blah blah blah......somebody always screws things or messes up...ask NASA. The problem is that this whole procedure increases the liklihood for exposure/risk to ID theft.

I have nothing against Mexico. It's the wages they pay that will make it more likely they'll be enticed into handing over information to someone from here in the states. ;)

eefer, you are missing the point, corruption means that indeed (I am ashame of it) you can cross a red light and the traffic police may ask you for a bribe to forget the incident, or if you are bringing goods from China, you may be able to get away from the 100% duties that we charge to some products from that Country, the Goverment unfortunately is still fighting that cancer.

Having said that, your fear of sending your personal information to a Mexico has no basis, if you trust the USA corporations, you bet that they have plenty of security procedures to handle that information, otherwise they would not dare to have an operation in Mexico, Citibank is here, HSBC, BBVA etc. If any of these institutions wouuld show their foreign locations can not handle succesfully the information they would be in the spot, press would attack them and their reputation would be questioned.

Now, please show us one example, just one where you know that any institution in Mexico used North Americans information to make fraud. Just one buddy. Again, you have no basis to say what you are saying, you are readaing incorrectly the facts.
