Got some cuttlefish eggs to try and hatch and breed any advise? I breed these pod looking things that seem to be a great starting food for the newly hatched specimens.

Keep them in a net breeder with good flow until the hatch, baby live brine shrimp make great first food for them but the pods would probably ok too. When they grow enough that you think they'll be ok in the open tank let them out. Don't know about breeding them though someone else would have to help you there.

Thanks! Yeah I have them in a breeder now there's an mp40 in the tabk they are in so they should be getting good flow it's attached to a big system I hope they hatch and I can raise them!

I've noticed putting them at a distance to a power head that makes them gently bounce is more successful. Also for food your gonna need to get live mysid shrimp for the amount of nutrients in the beginning if you want more of them to survive.

Awesome thanks so much and funny you say that that's how I have them I figured they would need the movement to help keep things from settling on the eggs sadly 2 hatched and got out of a hold in the net breeder I'm assuming they are hiding in the 200 gallon tank or have been eating I fixed the hole and I'm waiting for more to hatch to the eggs get a bit white before they hatch?

Check in between where the net meets the plastic rails on the bottom. They like to tuck themselves in there sometimes. Also try to separate the hatched from eggs, so you can keep a close eye on their health and feeding. Add something for them to hide and learn to camouflage on like shells or a little rubble. They won't feed for a few days to a week and sad to say but if they get out of that breeder at this stage, they are gone for good. Keep us updated I love these guys. I've been trying to get other species than sepia bandensis for over a year now if you run across anything else let me know.

Thanks for the help and I looked everywhere couldn't find them and I will I'm trying to get some flamboyant eggs! I'll let you know what I turn up

Bluezoo and saltwaterfish both carry them. They go in and out of stock at both places. I'm trying to hatch a set of 6 from bluezoo now...

For anyone looking for cuttlefish eggs -- I bought 6 from bluezoo, and all six hatched. Definitely worth buying eggs from this vendor.

On my list of must haves!!! I assume not reef safe? Are these guys a species only tank kind of critter? Anyone keep them in their fuge?
