I was wondering how long should I let them settle in my tank before cutting them. My orange one has 3 mouths, the one green has 3 as well. I was going to slice them so each has a single mouth.
I'm not a propagation expert but I'd say it depends how you want to try and frag them. If you're plan is to cut them off the rock I'd wait a month or two and let them get settled and used to the conditions in your tank and the lighting and all that. If you plan to try putting a rubber band or string around the polyp between the mouths to cause them to split, you can probably do that after a couple weeks since it's less stressful IMO. I'm actually in the process of trying it the second way on a Ric that isn't easy to cut off the rock.
I was going to try and just cut straight between the mouths..and hopefully they will all still be connected to the rocks. I dont plan on trying to take them off. just cutting them so they grow into individual ones
I've never tried just cutting them, but I've read that that doesn't work sometimes, since the Rics are capable of just healing back together. If that happens maybe you could try a rubberband?
Please post the results of whatever you end up trying
I see you're in Pittsburgh. I bet you're excited about MACNA this year, huh? I already bought my ticket since it's only a 6 hour drive or so
