Green leather problem

I have had a grown a green leather from a very small frag and it has always been very healthy, never having any issues. Just recently it has developed a dead spot on it that is white and eating a hole threw it. tank is stable and healthy, mostly sps. 250w mh lighting, good flow 0 po4 and 5 no3. I also have a smaller green leather that is uneffected, all other coral in tank are doing very very well. Any ideas on what this is??

Is it in direct flow? I moved my Toadstool ( pink with orange and green polyps ) in some direct flow, because it always opens up more in higher flow, but it hated it, and developed a brown spot and a small hole. It stayed closed up, too. I moved it somewhere else in the tank with indirect flow, and it's all better.

Well the spot started out small and white now it is large and white. The leather gets great PE and is in an area of good flow. I think it may be splitting because of how large it has gotten, not sure though.

pics are always very helpful, as once persons description may not match another's...your description of a hole may very well be a tear, split or separation to someone else...

I have a devil's hand coral that gets spots like these near it's fingers and the hole eats through until the finger falls off. Then it heals over and grows a new finger while the finger it dropped turns into a baby coral : 3. Maybe that's what's happening with yours?
