Green Long Polyp Mushroom Leather - Dead??

I purchased a long polyp green mushroom leather frag a month or 2 ago. It did great when I first got it. I had a hard time attaching it to my rock. One day is was on the bottom of the tank and I left it there for a few days to see if put its polyps out again. It didn't so I picked it up and used a lot of epoxy and got it to stick to a rock up higher in the tank. I would say it has med to high light and med flow rate. 2 days after I attached it polyps started to come out but then when back in. Now its been about a week and a half and no polyps have came out. Its not mush or anything but it seems like it is smaller than before. I'm afraid to touch it and bother it again. Do you think there is a chance it will come back. Sometimes I notice there are a few bubbles stuck to it. Let me know what you think.

Forgot to tell you that I have a bigger brown mushroom coral that is doing great and my water quality has been great with no problems with any other corals. The last test on 12/6 gave a reading of 0.25 Nitrate. One of my main questions is that if it was dead wouldn't it turn to mush. Its a pretty small frag so Its not like it would create any issues if it is dead but hopefully it will come back to life. I just would like to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Thanks.

if it's only been closed up a couple of days since last and the coloration still looks good it's likely it's still fine. touching it would let you know for sure (firmness is good usually). but at this point, i wouldn't bother it in order to let it acclimate itself to the new surroundings and the epoxy-episode.

toadies will shrink over time if stressed. they are basically using up their fat reserves as they go in "hiding"/retraction. since their polyps aren't out (for fear of whatever) they can't feed as effectively and go into "body fat burn". this is actually alright in the scale of things. it's a better response than rapid necrofication/rot.

i've had toadies closed for months before re-sprouting. they probably lost over 50% of their mass over that time but still pulled thru the illness or hobbyist-stupidity syndrome. :o so i wouldn't worry too much.

give it another couple of days before you bother it again or do more changes. the other sarco's healthy appearance is good but not always a definite indicator. i've had daughter colonies react differently in the same tank. hth

that usually happens to my toadstools too... they go for weeks not extending their polyps for some reason and then one day they open up...
