i came home and he came out from behind a rock and the red was totally faded like he had seen a ghost i started to freak out then about five min later the color was back should i worry

He's probably stressed. Check your ph, alk, and tank temperature. Is anything picking on your mandarin? Is he getting enough to eat?

I would have to say possibly food, Or lack thereof I should say. Any of the dragonets need a large tank with a well established pod population to stay healthy. I got very lucky that mine eats frozen mysis and cyclopese.

mine died about a week ago or well that was the last time I saw him. I had him for about a year I miss the little guy

Yes stress and no food.Try testing water prim. Does he eat frozen mysis shrimp?

If it's not starving to death, then it may be it was just napping.

My blue mandarin goes to sleep at night, and sometimes during the day she'll sleep in a dark place. When she sleeps, her colors fade dramatically and you would swear she looks dead!

BTW she is about 4 years old in my 29 and very fat and happy!

i don't think he is starving because before i put him in my tank i made sure the pod pop was up and i use green water to keep it up the only other fish is a baby hippo that is a little over an inch the lparameters look ok the salinity was a little lower than i like it but fine i think it was just sleeping well lets hope anyways
