tell me what you think..should i stick with the 10k that the H.Mag loves, or use the 14K.. this anemone has been under pc lighting for the last 6 months and has been under MH for a month but loves it.. has also put on noticeable size.. but the lighting is just too intense for the rest of the tank.. i dont what i should do..i got this anemone very small and bleached out and brought it back under pc's.. now i got it the light it wants but its too much!! it is fine with the 14K but looks like it liked the 10K a lot better.. for those who have an H. Magnifica, what do you keep it under?? and if you switched K how did it react to the switch.. thanks..

another thing... with the 10K the tentacles were long and flowy, with the 14K they look more compacted.. again idk if its just from the stress from change of the K rating, but its just on observation i had..

You're asking people who have a bias :)

Under the bluer light the mag may wander and sting the corals anyway. What problem are you seeing with the corals under the 10? Might it just take a while for them to get used to it?

the mag hasnt moved since i got it but once and that was 6 months ago.. under the 10 it is just too intense for them..LPS, frog, bubble coral, torch, hammer, galaxia, echinophyllia.. but tha mag loves it... under the 14 the LPS has normal expansion, but the mag doesnt like the 14 the best..he doesnt move but doesnt expand normally..

All I can say is that my mag would stay still and happy under 2x250W 10,000K HQI MH, but when I would turn on my 2x54W T5 Actinics it would wander around. It happened every time I tried it for several months. That lead me to believe that a magnifica's "happiness" did have something to do with the color, not just the intensity of the light. Of course we are describing a critter with no brain, so "happiness" means that the stimulus it is receiving doesn't make it wander around. I would stick with the 10K if you can, but I doubt the 14 would do any damage.

do you think the mag would get "used to" the 14? i cant have it wandering around.. it will kill anything it touches, touched a finger leather and zapped it real nice also one of LPS.. it got me on the arm a couple of times and it itched and burned like crazy..whenever i se my actinics it likes it, do you think maybe the high intense(MH) bluer spectrum of light is bothersome.. my actinics are pc's which we all know are not too intense..just a thought..

I don't know, but I try not to keep any corals that I would be too sad about losing in a tank with an anemone like a mag. Other things could make it wander. What if the bulb over it burns out while you aren't there and it wanders to the other one, or the power goes out and it wanders towards the daylight coming in the window (mine did that once)
