halide blackout

hi guys,
i just bought my aquaspacelight for about a week already. It lit up very nice, but one day i came home from work. It is off, i tried to plug it back to the outlet. suddenly the circuit tripped. everytime i plug in the circuit tripped imediately before anything happen. can someone tell me why?

is this a GFCI or just a regular outlet? If it is not a GFCI then there is a serious issue with your lights and they should be shelved until the problem can be fixed.

The light in under a gfci outlet. the problem is when i plug it, it shuts off imediately. could it be a bad ballast?

Is the light switch off when you try to plug it in?

This is a pendent with a built in ballast, it doesnt have a switch and just plugs straight in. open it up today and the transformer look burnt but i think that jsut the way to saw it when it still works. I hope someone can helpt me out. Im a student and dead broke, loves reef but cant afford a new light.
