Halloween hermit crab eating my torch coral

I appears to be reef safe:

This is why I stay away from any and all crabs.

My tank is a Crab Free Zone as well.
Never been happier...

Trick or treat......I think trick!

I believe there are 1043 versions of the words reef safe, however the top ones are:
-he's a model citizen.
-she never has been a problem.
-this ones ok, yours is a different species.
-and the number 1.......drum roll......the guy at the LFS said it was OK!

If you manage your nutrients and water well, unless you love crabs, they are not required.

I just keep a small number of crabs for really one specific reason..
And they did their magic last night..
Wife told me that the cleaner shrimp finally died (not molt) and asked if I was going to get the body out of the tank.. "nope" was my answer and last night I kept watching as the 2 crabs I have were devouring it..
This morning.. No shrimp body at all..
Job well done.. :)

But yes.. In general they can be bullies and decimate your snail population,etc... if not closely monitored/starving..
In a small tank I wouldn't have any at all..

LMAO it looks like he's having the time of his life. Do you not feed your crabs? In my opinion all crabs are evil!

Usually crabs just eat the uneaten scraps from feeding times. When you cut back on feedings and they start to get hungry; that's the time when they usually make dinner out of your smaller fish or snails throughout the night.
