has anybody ever ordered live rock on ebay?

ok, so nobody has done it.... how about considered it? im trying to turn this into a little conversation.... i want some opinions.
i was thinking if anybody needed rock, maybe we could do a sort of group order, we could all get a peice or 2...
everybody tell me your opinions, and fears about this.

I've never ordered it off Ebay. I posted on USENET and found some locally ~4 years ago to start up my tank.
You can check out some of the links on our sponsor pages. Some of them have some pretty good deals on ordering live rock from time-to-time.
Before you order from anybody (Ebay or sponsor or private buy), search the "Vendor Feedback" forum to see if anybody has posted anything good or bad about the vendor.

Hey Randy, that would be fine if we could find someone who needs around 30lb. Maybe Chris needs 30 lb?
The boxes come in 48-50lb increments. I was gonna order one, but if you and anyone else want to split another, then we can get together and do it. I will wait til tomorrow to order so you guys can decide.

Do you think that rock is worth it??? I mean the $99 for 50 lbs isn't bad at all, but the shipping is $1.69/lb overnight, $1.29 2 day... Not too sure about curing it either... So still comes out close to $4/lb uncured... I know you mentioned Premium Aquatics before, and someone mentioned Fosters & Smith... Just want what's best and all...

Well, I service Clinton every once in a while, but the majority of my clientelle is in West Knox/Maryville... I stary fairly busy, but if you wanted to call sometime I'd do my best to work you in... I mainly do Dressage, Hunter Jumpers and corrective work... If you call UT Large Animal clinic, you can usually get my # from Sharon or whoever answers...

$1.50 a lb. is about standard for overnight from CA, whether it's Marine Depot, liveaquaria, Dr. Mac, or . PA sells it too, but I think their base price is around $4 a lb. You might also try reefermadness, I think they get around $150 for a box incl. shipping (2 day) and Chris is very easy to work with.

Dr. Mac = 3.27/lb shipped fiji
Marine Depot = 3.84/lb shipped fiji
Reefer Madness = 3.62/lb shipped fiji
Liveaquaria = 3.29-3.95/lb shipped fiji/fiji premium
Premium Aquatics = 4.38/lb shipped fiji (supposed to be fully cured).
Ok so what I am gonna do is to order from Premium Aquatics.
I'm getting 50lb myself. You guys can combine later and get an order together if you want, or you can order this with me. The reason I am ordering from PA is because firstly I just like that company a LOT. Then also, it's supposed to be fully cured. It's not transshipped. They take the rock out of the boxes, leave it in their saltwater vats and cure it. Then they package it back up and send it to us. They don't send any rock rubble in the boxes so you get more rock for your money. Maybe I am just buying into hype, but sounds like good logic to me and it's not that much more expensive.
I will wait til this afternoon, so if anyone wants to order this with me, we order per pound with no limits on how many pounds we order. So if you want to get some, just PM me the amount you want and we will work it out! But it's gotta be today.
