ok, hey everyone, i just got word one of the frags i had was bleached out and was wondering if everyone elses came out nice...i know those heat packs had a big role in the shipping, and we did drive 4 hours to get there, i kept the temp at a constant 76degrees all the way there...i just want to make sure everyone else was satisfied with what they got, i know i got rid of about 25 frags and so far i had one bad responce to the coral turned white...this sucks i know the reason we frag is to popluate the world with corals instead of taking them from the oceans, to try and safe our ecosystems and such....plz let me know i try and keep things positive and if i can replace your frag with another, plz show pics of the frag with actinics on and then with daylights on....ill gladly replace your frag...sry for any inconveinance.. know if the coral was somehow bleached we need to figure out why it got bleached, so any repsonces to shipping and or how much time you acclimated your coral or where you placed it in your tank water flow and water conditions would help with the care of sps frags...thank you

I got a coral from you not sure of name but pink something.I have it at the top of tak under 440 watts vho and it has looked good after about 2-3 hours in tank.I floated for about an hour.Scott

awesome, cool, is it the poccilapora or the porites....the poccilapora is more rigid and porites is more rounded fingers

pink porites, its carribean stlye thats why its more rounded, than the normal porites you might be used to seeing

My Pocillia is doing ok. I noticed that the base of it is white. But the tips are still pink so I think its going to make it. Also I think that that was kind of the natural coloration.

the stuff I got from you is ok but the stuff I got from zoogi was almost a complete loss I don't like those plastic tubs at all

same here gary.. i am really upset with all the frags i got from zooqi.. lost just about all as well, i thought maybe it was my tank but seeing my other SPS that i have had in the system are fine, and hearing about your losses maybe it was the frags.. i have had all levels checked daily and everything tests out great.. so its not my tank..

it must be the tubs the temp changes to quickly in them, i kept the temp in the container i brought at 76 and i noticed that soon as i took the lid off for almost a alf our the temp dropped about 4 degrees inside the compartment, so i would have to bet that this is why the temp inside my compartment had a single heat pack, 2 of them made it too hot and my compartment was farly big, i dont think zooqi had any heat pack in his, for we went to ohio using the same container almost a 5 hour ride and i know for a fact that he had his packed about 5 in the morning and we didnt start ridding any frags till about 1 and they did fine, so i am still wondering if maybe it is the temp change that could cause this....thanks for your input glad to hear my frags were doing fine...lol...so far i guess we will have to rid the tubs as a means of transportation....and the bottoms of every frag of the pink are that way, the whole colony was that way so your pink poc is looking like it should....

My piece I got from you is doing just fine. I was wondering do you have that websitre for the macro also. Thanks

All my frags from Mo are doing fine, but I did put them into a cooler right away. I am especially excited about the red monti frag. It is looking great and so far it's keeping its color nicely!

I don't float corals much. Just enough to keep them out of the way while I am mounting. I just mounted them up and put them in the tank.

I had to work late this evening, but I'll try and post pictures tomorrow.

cool, i am thinking those heat packs were a bad idea for anyone who took one with them, they will bleahc your coral in no time at all, i wonder did gary take any, or anyoen else who had any problems? maybe this coould be the problem...sry ablut that algae link...here it is, now what you do is find one you like and then doa study on it, you will find some are good growers and some are more noxious than others,, but the ones that are more noxious and toxic usually are the best ones you could have, but you will have to do studies, ill find another link that anthony calfo did on his macro study...check this macro link

it is funny that everyone that got frags from zoogi are not doing well.I got a nice frag of blasto from him that has not colored up was thinking it was just my tank.I guess it is ok I know you made a long ride and maybe even with the heat paks it may of dropped temp.I am hoping that it still makes it.Scott

I used a heatpack in my cooler but I taped to the top. I didn't really check the temps all that much but everything I got at the meet is doing good. I was one of the last to leave so I know my stuff was in the bag for awhile.

i personally do not think it is funny seeing that i traded a mated pair of clarkiis to him for bunch of frags.. i too thought it was my system but after hearing a few complaints i dont think it is..but they had a long trip, though im not happy, i know the clowns will be well cared for.. and i am in no way trying to start something about zooqi's corals, i have heard nothing but good things from people..

ok, well the bad thing is that we cant be killing corals, no matter what, i dont think it is anyones fault, maybe just if we focus more on how we can stop them from dieing...and figure out why his corals would have bleached and mine didnt, now the only difference in his and mine were that i had heat pack in mine taped to top like bosborn did, with my suggestion, b/c there so easy to bleach due to temp changes....so we need to focus on excactly where heat packs were placed and if even used, or anything that comes to the acclimation of these....i would really like to use this thread as a learning experience if anything, and hopefully wont need to remove due to talking about who it came from or whatever....zooqi is a good man, and i am sure he would replace any coral anytime whatever it may be for any reason, you could PM him and tell him you accidently threw your 100 dollars of corals in the trash and hes the type of person to replace them for you....but i got ONE bad responce and i would really like to know why my corals were bleached, expecially if one was a nice blue encrusting monti, which i have never had any problems with considering, i could throw it in my fuge tank and watch it grow, so i am thinkin it must be the heat packs or something...

spoon25....... i am in NO WAY talking bad or want to give any negative reactions about Mo.. he is very nice and i held many interesting conversations with him.. maybe it was the way the frags were transported.. i used no heat packs.. but, again i would like to say i am not bad mouthing him at all, i realy dont intend for it to say it like that i was just upset about the losses. and i am very happy that he has my clowns because i know how good he takes care of his fish, coral..so if it sounded bad i apologize.. by the way how are the clarkiis doing??

did I hear my name here :) sorry to hear that your frags did not make it and I will replace them at the future meetings. It is odd that some PM's I got where corals are doing fine and read here some are not and it must be the way they were trapnsported and I don't blame anybody except myself. Most of those corals were fraged there on the spot from the mother colony and I'm sure the mother colonies are doing fine too. It is not the heat pack that some of you are trying to blame. I keep corals heated well in the car with heat cranked and even the person who was with me smoking and putting his window down a little I would crank the heat high untill smoking break is done. Two containers were not insulated but the rest of the corals were in coolers and when I got there I checked the tempreture to make sure is ok. Remind me at the future meetings and will get you frags again. I can bring them to the meeting in a good condition and you check them before you pick them up and then I don't know how is transported and like cknowlto said that he got them from me and put them in a cooler right away. If you have any problem with corals please PM me or email me and we will get it right next time :)
